Kakaako District

The Kaka’ako district, known as the new heart of Honolulu, is the commercial district of Honolulu, Hawaii. It is located along the southern shore of the island of Oahu and is surrounded by Ala Moana, near the famous Waikiki Beach on the east, and on the west by the Honolulu Harbor and downtown Honolulu.

The 600 acre district is bound by Piikoi Street, Punchbowl Street, King Street, and Ala Moana Boulevard. It houses the waterfront area starting from Kewalo Basin until Forrest Avenue. Some notable places and establishments in the district are the Kaka`ako Waterfront Park, the Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center, the Mission House Museum, the Kewalo Basin Park, the John A. Burns School of Medicine (Jabsom) Cafeteria, and the People’s Open Market in Mother Waldon Park which opens every Monday from around 10AM to 11AM.
